The Turquoise Coast earned its name honestly — the water off Fethiye shifts from deep sapphire to pale jade depending on the depth and the light. Visibility often runs past 20 metres, which is why your first swim off the transom tends to be a long one.

Just south of Fethiye sits Ölüdeniz, the “Dead Sea” — a lagoon so still and so blue it looks edited. Sail past it in the late afternoon, drop anchor nearby, and watch the paragliders spiral down from Babadağ while you swim. That is the whole itinerary.

Turkish sailors will tell you the real secret is the afternoon breeze — it fills in almost like clockwork after lunch, gives you a few hours of perfect sailing, then softens at sunset. Plan your hops around it and you look like a genius.
